Abstract

[Objective]
It has already become widely common in the use of Temporary Anchorage Device (TAD) in various orthodontic treatments. TAD is absolutely necessary for the patients with severe orthodontic problems. For orthodontists, the success rate of screw implant is very important. So we processed the screws currently being used and studied whether the success rate would increase or not.
[Methods]
We used TAD (diameter, 1.5mm; screw length, 7.1mm), and we processed it to two patterns. Type A was made hole of 0.4mm in implant body which contact with cortical bone. And type B was inserted hydroxyapatite into the hole. We used type A and type B each 5 patients of our clinic and examined whether they would fall out or not.
[Result]
In all patients, there were no failure. And the screws were used for whole period of treatments. There were no other side effects for the use of the screws.
[Conclusion]
We think that the hole of 0.4mm in implant body would contribute mechanical osseointegration, and hydroxyapatite would contribute chemical osseointegration. Hereafter, we want to research these cancellous bone structure by using scaning electron microscope.
